Breastfeeding Awareness Week

Breastfeeding Awareness Week is with us ~ 11th – 17th May 2008

This week I’m speaking in Birmingham at a conference for breastfeeding experts. This year’s theme for the week is ‘every drop counts’.

We need to bear this in mind when people around suggest we wean before our child is ready.

I’d love to hear from you if you’re doing anything to promote breastfeeding awareness.

I don't think anyone in our area of the North West is doing anything specific for it, although in previous years, we've had a coffee morning.

I'm just going to be doing my usual thing§ to promote breasfeeding, which is to carry on feeding my 33 month old, wherever and whenever she wants.

here I am, still nursing my son age 2 1/4, and find I am surrounded by likeminded friends. Nearly all with boys of similar age who are showing no signs of self weaning. Today at playgroup (largely women like me), one mum, who tandems her new born and 22 mth old, had a t-short on that said 'I make milk..what's your superpower?'. Now that's what I call a promotion!
